Scenery Exclude Question

Recommended Posts

Why do some scenery designers make a HUGE exclude file when they are redesigning a default airport? I like seeing the autogen buildings and trees and sometimes the exclude file is so large, it wipes out the autogen for miles around the airport. Is there a reason for this or is it just at the discretion of the designer? Also is there a way to replace the exclude file with one of my own? Thanks,Ray

Ray, sometimes the exclude can wipe out the autogen because of the objects individually created but allso because an easy way to remove default objects is one large area exclude for easy of design instead of plotting each individual exclude per item that can generate multiple exclude files yet retain most of the underlying scenery.Ofcourse this all takes time and some ppl prefer not to waste time on this.Here is an example of a scasm exclude set that removes a series of trees from an airport area but not the autogen buildings and autogen trees that i prefer to leave in place. This shows you why some prefer a large generic exclude.Set( BUF 2048 )Set( areamx 2048 )Set( LINBUF 2048 )Header( 1 S12:14:44.70 S12:17:04.68 E131:14:33.00 E131:11:55.75 )LatRange( S12:17:04.68 S12:14:44.70 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc11.bgl" 1 S12:15:45.4986 S12:15:46.1303 E131:13:56.2209 E131:13:55.4172 S12:15:45.4986 S12:15:46.1303 E131:13:56.2209 E131:13:55.4172 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc10.bgl" 1 S12:15:30.7058 S12:15:31.3798 E131:13:59.0068 E131:13:58.4702 S12:15:30.7058 S12:15:31.3798 E131:13:59.0068 E131:13:58.4702 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc9.bgl" 1 S12:15:46.6439 S12:15:48.1320 E131:13:59.5969 E131:13:58.8876 S12:15:46.6439 S12:15:48.1320 E131:13:59.5969 E131:13:58.8876 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc1.bgl" 1 S12:15:40.9449 S12:15:41.5664 E131:13:56.5044 E131:13:55.7675 S12:15:40.9449 S12:15:41.5664 E131:13:56.5044 E131:13:55.7675 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc2.bgl" 1 S12:15:40.4526 S12:15:41.0653 E131:13:54.0499 E131:13:53.3459 S12:15:40.4526 S12:15:41.0653 E131:13:54.0499 E131:13:53.3459 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc3.bgl" 1 S12:15:43.7480 S12:15:44.2284 E131:13:55.8780 E131:13:53.8481 S12:15:43.7480 S12:15:44.2284 E131:13:55.8780 E131:13:53.8481 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc4.bgl" 1 S12:15:46.6987 S12:15:47.4071 E131:13:59.2008 E131:13:58.4513 S12:15:46.6987 S12:15:47.4071 E131:13:59.2008 E131:13:58.4513 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc5.bgl" 1 S12:15:42.9524 S12:15:43.6172 E131:13:58.9809 E131:13:58.4408 S12:15:42.9524 S12:15:43.6172 E131:13:58.9809 E131:13:58.4408 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc6.bgl" 1 S12:15:34.4743 S12:15:37.0563 E131:13:52.3483 E131:13:51.8730 S12:15:34.4743 S12:15:37.0563 E131:13:52.3483 E131:13:51.8730 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc7.bgl" 1 S12:15:36.5952 S12:15:36.9787 E131:13:51.7449 E131:13:51.3624 S12:15:36.5952 S12:15:36.9787 E131:13:51.7449 E131:13:51.3624 ); Header ExclusionGenExcl( "C:Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryBFUOsceneryBFUO_exc8.bgl" 1 S12:15:35.6659 S12:15:36.1518 E131:13:52.0257 E131:13:51.4756 S12:15:35.6659 S12:15:36.1518 E131:13:52.0257 E131:13:51.4756 )This will generate 11 excludes to remove 11 unwanted autogen trees and as you can see, is a lot more labour intensive !hope this answers your question.rgds Jeff

Also, autogen can be excluded by FS to increase framerates to the "target". I've noticed this on my own scenery, where sometimes I'll take off, fly to another airport and return, only to find that some of the autogen has dissapeared.- Martin

If I have a scenery with only one exclude file that removes objects from a large area, can I remove that exclude and make my own set of exclude files for that scenery? That way I should be able to get back the lost autogen. It this correct?Ray
