Safe to combine Lib object XMLs, make one BGL ? FS2004

Recommended Posts

Guest Larrycx

Hi, I think I saw that you connot do this but I need to ask. I have a bunch of buildings I have placed on 99V, USA. I have a separate BGL for each bldg. They are all close to each other except two at the other end of the airport (abt 4000 ft). I would sure like to make one BGL for all of them. Of course the rextures will have to remain independent, none are shared to now. The BGLs are in FS2004Addon Sceneryscenery and the textures are in FS2004Addon Scenerytextures.I'm afaraid to just try it cause I've seen posts that radical things could blow FS's files and require reload. A big No-no.I would appreciate any advice. I would like to upload this project if its clean enought. ThanksLarry Costa

Hi Larry,I don't know what you are afraid of. I would just combine everything in one XML source and run it through BGLComp. Should not give problems I think.

>I'm afaraid to just try it cause I've seen posts that radical>things could blow FS's files and require reload. A big No-no.That's just crazy talk. You can combine plenty of library objects to an XML file without a problem. Now, if you want to combine the various library BGLs into one mega-library-BGL, I think this is slightly more difficult, but check out Arno's site, since I think he has made a tool that can help you out with this.Notwithstanding this fact, you might want to place your scenery into it's own folder rather than sharing the common addon folders. That way, you can easily get rid of unwanted "radical" BGLs and textures if you decide to uninstall the scenery.- Martin
