Christian Stock Tutorials

Good Friends Make Good DaysHey Scenic Route RoversIt seems that a fellow named Christian Stock is supposed to have written some tutorials that will clear the muddy waters that now hide the mysteries of Landclass, LWM, VTP, and nearly all things scenic. I have located some of his sceneries and they are great. I've searched this site, and several others with his name to no avail. Indeed, one of the results that I found was - (get this)- A Post by him, on a forum, where he is telling someone to search that site with his(Christian Stock's) name to locate his (Christian Stock's) tutorials. I know that he is everywhere, but I can't find him. I did, however find out where all of the evangelists are investing their money. That's right... in Christian Stock. Do the search yourself and see.Does anyone know where to get his tutorials or, even better, the Gentleman in person.Thank you all and have a goodn'Denver Davisdendav588@aol.com

Good Friends Make Good DaysThank you very much Dick.Very evidently, I don't know any more about search engines than I do about Scenery development. I've been reading about two tutorials per day since this passed Christmas, and I'm not sure that I'm making any progress at all. The adage about not being able to teach an "old dog new tricks" becomes a frightening reality when you realize that you have become an old dog. However, its far better than spending my retirement days watching daytime TV and stagnating in my own inertia. Thanks for the help....it looks like I need to spend a couple of days (or should I say daze) learning search technique. If, by any slim chance, I can do anything to help you, please email me.Denver Davisdendav588@aol.com

Hi Denver,If you follow Dick's advice you should be able to locate my tutorials (thanks, Dich, for jumping in). However, be warned that my tutorials aren't really for newbies. The advice I'd give to you:1) Also look for other tutorials, people like Dick (Rhumbaflappy) and Arno and posts from other people eg Holger, Luis, and a handful of other regulars in this forum. You'll find that scenery design has many faces and most people have some specialist knowledge about a couple of things, but noone knows it all (certainly not me). Also, frequent Arno's website: www.scenerydesign.org, a real gem.2) Scenery design is a complex thing as you would have found out by now. My advice is that rather than learning it all, pick an area (eg a local small airport) and get your hands dirty. All 'dogs' (young or old) learn by making mistakes best. You can read all day long, but one day you'll have to turn it into practice and the earlier the better. It'll be intimitading, I know, but you just got to do it and jump into the cold water.3) Learn to master the search engines. They'll become a new good friend. The problem is that most of us have day jobs and spent countless hours trying to figure out the things MS never told us. Hence, time is sparce. I'd love to mentor more people on scenery design, but realisticly that's going to happen when days become longer than 24h.Good luck,Christian
