Changing textures of api

Recommended Posts

Guest Grunt

How can I modify the textures common in apis in the XXXX.0af, xxx.1af, etc. format? I tried with DTXBmp just as a wild as guess, but no dice. Is there a program out there to convert to bmp and back? Thanks in advance![a href=http://bstockwell.net/MAIP.htm]http://bstockwell.net/images/maip.gif[/a]

What you would want is TexBmp from the site below. Those appear to be old FS texture formats that are still in use.http://www.it.uc.pt/~luis/files/texbmp.html"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

ImageTool, or at least the one I have which I think is from the 2002 SDKs, can't handle all those old filetypes, though it can open .r8 and .ppm files. (In particular the .?af files can't be opened by ImageTool, and those are often used in macros.) On the other hand, TexBmp can't handle the new .bmp files. There are also some files of the .?af and .r8 format which TexBmp can't handle. ImageTool should be able to handle the latter."Let me help you out. The *.?AF files should be R8 texutres (look at their size, should be 64 kB).If the size is different, it could also be that they are compressed (I remember a tool for Fs5/Fs98 that did that), in that case you can no longer edit them).
