November 10, 200421 yr Hi,I am in the the middle of developing some photo scenery using Terramesh and I read recently that the photo area has to be certain size to work with MSFS. Apparently Microsoft SDK puts scenery into squares, trims it if its too big, but will not display it if it is too small. Can anyone tell me what is the minimum size the area has to be. (miles/kilometers) The town area I am working on is about 40 x 30 kilometers so I hope its big enough!regards Peter.
November 10, 200421 yr Hello Peter,The minimum coverage for a custom (photo-real) ground tile is a LOD 13 quadrant. Or rather, a few of them.If you take a look at the Terrain SDK, you will see that this is 0.010986328 degrees in latitude and 0.014648438 degrees in longitude. Or, depending on your location, something like 1220 meters high by almost the same amount wide. So, your very large image will definitely give you results.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
November 10, 200421 yr Author I've made a 2 lod grid image successfully, I don't think a 1 grid will work.
