Exploring Terrain.CFG and creating incompatibilities .....

Recommended Posts

Hi Horst, thanks for the images and detailed explanations. It seems like that we were thinking about the same issues and options all along ;-)Using the offset parameter to elevate a railroad or road bed is definitely a neat option. Also, the ability to fine-tune offset settings to the project's specific landscape is very nice to have.I don't expect that there will be many projects that actually include that much effort on the part of the designer, requiring various additions to the terrain.cfg. Perhaps these projects could offer two variants of installation, one that utilizes the default terrain.cfg and another that includes offset adjustments? However, I guess Luis' desire is to allow for these kinds of changes directly within SBuilder, which would require some sort of standardization up-front. I don't really have a final opinion on that and would suggest that Luis moves ahead and plays "pioneer" ;-)Cheers, Holger

Hello Holger,To give you some other ideas! It would be nice to start the line with an offset and to end the line with an different offset? So you can building ramps, dams etc.(I think, it is not possible yet)You can cross an other line or polygon very natural (between a bridge!)You do not need an special object, you can use the normal textures very easy (only elevating the terrain). You can use the autogen setting to the line!Trees instead of telephone mast. And put the autogen to the sloped area. The flatten should use the texture width and not the meshpoints, also autogen!(Frames?? With the new rendered meshpoints?)We end up with Dicks words: we need something for
