NASA World Wind to a FS scenery?

Recommended Posts

Guest RipPipPip

NASA World Wind (http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov) is a stunning technology, using a public domain data and intranet connection, to put Landsat-7 textures on SRTM mesh (+Blue Marble and USGS as well, where appriopriate) on local PC.It coveres +-...a whole World. So, my idea (if not request) is to find out an easy way of converting that World Wind application's cache to a FS photo scenery.I know that there are some very technical tools (if not MS SDK) already, but some suggestions from experts would be a real help.If somebody would come out with a brief tutorial how to accomplish that conversion...or even if somebody would present us a ready conversion tool for this - I am sure that we will have lots of freeware sceneries covering many interesting places, if not a complete Earth! (And Mars :)).http://img156.exs.cx/img156/592/3249290e3472676n4po.jpghttp://img156.exs.cx/img156/5103/3468031e3077960n0xx.jpghttp://img156.exs.cx/img156/1151/8004673w3289382n6lu.jpgPlease?Cheers, Rysiek

If you go to virtualvfr.com and look at their tutorials link, there's a couple of pages describing how to do this.. ;)

Yeah I used that, but since then I have found better images at terraserver.com...Much better looking... Still a lot of hand work unless you can afford to buy georeferenced satellite images...
