My State of West Virginia is in the process of a mapping program. The main reason is to establish street names and house numbers in small towns that only have a P.O. Box number. Color photographs are available for download. Each photo is 5000 x 5000 pixel at two feet per pixel. I have merged 4 wide by 5 high photographs, at about 5 by 5 minute sections and resized to as close as possable to 4.75 meter to pixel. I am making this larger KCKB area, because I live here. Others will probably only cover airport areas.My question are this:1. Most programs require omly N,S,E,W, coordinates. My photographs the coordinates are not the exactly the same same at each corner. Is there a way to be this accurate, or would it 2. What is the best way to determine the LOD for this area of coverage? Is there a way to get a program to cut photographs outside the LOD, so there is no black eadges?Any help would be greatly appreciated!Richard L Hill

What is the best way to determine the LOD for this area of>coverage? If you know the coordinates of the edges, it is not that hard to determine which LOD they fit in. The size in degrees of each LOD square is fixed, so it should not be too hard to determine in which LOD your image fits.You could also try to use a program like SBuilder to place your image. This gives you a graphical way to see if the LOD is fully filled and can thus be drawn without black edges.

I think the program you want is called LODCalc102.zip. Given a lat/long position, it will tell you the lat/long extent of any LOD for that point.Alternatively, TMFViewerCalc from tdfcalc2004v3.zip will provide the Lod 13 and LOD 8 standard identification for that point.My understanding is that FS2000 resample will crop your image at the LOD 13 boundary. The problem is that there is no blending with default texture, so you might want to look at extending your photo textures with some of the default to lessen the edge effect.scott s..
