March 17, 200521 yr hi, i've been using sbuilder with great success! it's an excellent program. i've been creating photo tiles effortlessly any they're appearing in fs2k4 fine and much clearer than resample.exe. unfortunately i've noticed gaps appearing between the lod13 cells of photo tiles when travelling away and towards the textures, they seem to be transparent and show the landclass underneath and disappear when the textures seemed to be loading higher mips.i remember reading about this a while back but a search revealed nothing, anyone come across this or have a solution?cheers mitch
March 17, 200521 yr Commercial Member Hi,If sbuilder is using anything but the default approach to custom photorealistic scenery, then this is the pain you will have to live with. We used to design photo realistic scenery with TerraBuilder back in the "old" days, FS98 vintage, and I went through great pains to try to correct the seams but it never worked. I suspect this is the same proble all over again - it is due to the imprecision of FS when laying tiles over the default landclass (instead of replacing them)Misho Katulic, authorTerraBuilder P3D SpacePort Team
March 17, 200521 yr Commercial Member SBuilder places the photo tiles as VTP polygons, so the output is not 100% similar to the BGL file resample creates. I think that is the reason of these gaps, I have also seen them.Luis is aware of this, but I think there is not much that can be done about this. It seems that this is just the way FS works with VTP polygons. Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. March 17, 200521 yr Hello,I think there is also some relation, how the terrain engine is using the m - textures from the terrain textures (i.e 0012b2 m 11) in the distance. But the SDK tells nothing about these textures, and I have no idea. There is a problem in landclass and Vtp.I would be also very interested in a solution.Kind regardsHorst
March 18, 200521 yr thanks for the replies gents, i had a feeling it would be something more complicated and nothing "simple" i could fix. i'll wait to see if luis has anything to add though. it's a pitty, i was going to use the method to cover a real large area. -mitch
March 18, 200521 yr > ... i'll wait to see if luis has>anything to add though. Hello Mitch,I was also waiting to see if anyone could give us a tip! :-) This is a problem (FS bug ?) related to VTP textures. It happens both with lines and polygons when they cross LOD13 gridlines. If you draw a large VTP polygon on a ocean region using landclass texture 8 (desert) you will see blue gaps crossing the yellow texture.I have no idea to what can be done.Regards, Luis
