Recently, while working on a re-make of Gibraltar, I decided to place some antennae on top of the Rock. The default generic antennae seemed fine for this purpose

Hi Luis,I spent some time yesterday taking shots in order to get an image for each object in the list that you sent me some days ago. There are a number that did not show (I can make a list) and, as you, I also tried to unset AGL in some cases. One obvious object was the "weather ballon" but I never thought to raise the TV antena :-) Luis

Hi Luis and Luis,Nice story of discovery ;-) When I first tried placing those objects I too was about to dismiss them as odd. My "Heureka" came when I used the F1 button to place the aircraft (in slew mode) on the ground facing the object. When one hits the ground there's a split second that one can see the part of an object that extends beneath the ground and so I noticed that I wasn't seeing the whole thing. Two other objects that are drilled deep into the ground are gen_pole01 and gen_stack01.Cheers, Holger

Hi all. This makes perfect sense for the design team. They get GIS data locating the air obsrtuctions ( towers, smokestacks... ) but that data lists the absolute height of the obstruction. So by changing the refpoint to the top of the object, and making the object height huge, they can just place the generic object at the listed height. This saves them from making a new object for each location.Pretty smart.Another use of this type of creation might be gmaxed dams. Make the top the refpoint, and the dam can then burrow into the ground regardless of the water height or mesh.Dick

Hi,I could not take shots of these objects (I could not get them to show on the sim). I would be grateful if someone confirms this. Please ignore the numbers in the midle of the list. c545a27111d2e2ec1000849c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_gen_radarshackB7328626b11d303801000859c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_gen_radarshackdishf60ad9e2403191887dc6c69cb7a521f9 1 50 50 1 ag_Church_197d5a3804f479899ab6ca0abf638fdd7 1 50 50 1 ag_Mosquea181fb4744c5366e767816846f7e6b0b 1 50 50 1 ag_Shintobab9aec64d8f697167a02abe2e4e05e4 1 50 50 1 ag_synagogueb7e320984fcc40efadccff9c2976d125 1 50 50 1 VEH_Fuel_Truck41eaf96f4f1c98145fb26083b59c895f 1 50 50 1 fx_db_m1bd1017bc46a85e112f6f54925e6dd0e4 1 50 50 1 fx_mzlFlsh85d943914304ceff3222179c94a52c83 1 50 50 1 gen_barn027a7fbb59429e373b1f432986268a7934 1 50 50 1 gen_beacon01305fb2f644802f69c9be57816ed05913 1 50 50 1 gen_elevatorbeb7289e4e91d99380a4aabbcb99d4ac 1 50 50 1 gen_launchpad_alone01_EXTRA5c55111b4e1b5620af15409073f620a2 1 50 50 1 gen_rig0289a17f8011d469365000df914a44d104 1 50 50 1 markerdeeb26fe4d5e2a98eeac22bf1825024c 1 50 50 1 Parking01558a197a459dbd2b6d53018f4d84570e 1 50 50 1 Parking02003f5b984d69ae8d4eb46a989fcd34f3 1 50 50 1 Parking0339d278b1438717b36a96b69af1ce198a 1 50 50 1 Parking0454690006267300F0022E0DB1C0F65F5C 0 50 50 1 Strobe_whitef794205c45821677eaf648a034de1c89 1 50 50 1 Tower9f3d627848e0b0824a8dee8ddf6f91fa 1 50 50 1 WaterTower9ed1221b436f815025d28db7e4a80bbf 1 50 50 1 rdbldc545a27c11d2e2ec1000849c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_genbldg_skydkgraymd7328624b11d303801000859c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_genbldg_tanmd7328626011d303801000859c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_genbldg_tansm7328626111d303801000859c2ae60c5a 1 50 50 1 SCO_genbldg_tantallIn these 2 - I get a midle air structure ???8b9cf4fe4d62ff442e8dcd9089a4e90d 1 50 50 1 VEH_water_eastcoastcarrier25cb7e8834a8478e98c729c90b0f83994 1 50 50 1 VEH_carrier2In these 2 I get the solid without textures. Thanks for the tip, Holger.The generic pole is 199 meter BGL (Below Ground Level).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116662.jpgThe generic chimney stack is 431 meters BGL (Below Ground Level).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116663.jpgHere is a side-by-side shot for comparison purposes.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116664.jpgLuis, if possible, I would be very interested in seeing the results of your investigations with these objects, and the list that results.I shall take a look at the above objects and let you know what happens.Best regards.Luis
