How do you convert DEM date into a Binary?

I was wondering How I can convert DEM data into a Binary file? The read_demo.exe tool in the FS2004 SDk kit does not work.

You should be able to do this with the resample tool that comes with the SDK as well.

I downloaded SDTS.GZ files from the web for a specific part of the country I want to start working on MESH terrain and then eventually build on an airport in this area. 1.) How do I convert this file into a .DEM file. I have tried MICRODEM and it is giving me memory fault errors?2.) Am I doing the right thing by downloading this type of data? I am reading the terrain.sdk over and over again and I simply can't convert this file?3.) I believe the following step would be to use the READ_DEM.EXE to get the information and create and BGL file.Help would be appreciated?
