Trees for EZ-Scenery?

Recommended Posts

Hi Andrew:EZ-Scenery (EZS) is designed to search your system for standard xml placement-related object libraries as used in FS2004. It will list all your default FS libraries and any others it finds. Plus you will find a huge repository of libraries converted and/or created for the FS2004 library format in the AVSIM library; just search for EZ-Scenery there. For the most detailed information and peer support on EZS, as well as ideas on how to develop one's own libraries for use see the BEV "Users Helping Users" Forum: http://www.flightsim-bevs.com/smf_1-0-5/index.php?board=59.0And to better organize one's scenery libraries and do some scenery creation with them, check out Library Object Manager at AVSIM: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...=root&Go=SearchHave Fun!GaryGB

Do a search for trees in the scenery design section of the Avsim file library. You'll find several libraries that will work.

Some of the tree libraries are designed to rotate to the camera. They need to be placed with a heading of 0

There are four tree libs that work with EZS, by my list. The simplest to try would be Arno G.'s trees which were packaged for EZS by Steve Ziegler. (hope I remembered Steve's name correctly) Arno's package uses default textures, so it's just a matter of adding the BGL file with the same named TXT file. You can add to an existing scenery folder or make a new one. But the key is that scenery folder must be active in the FS Addon Scenery library. Some people place everything into the Addon SceneryScenery folder and the textures into the Addon SceneryTexture folder. I like a seperate folder structure. It's up to you how things are set up, but the key seems to be that you have to have that folder active in FS to make it work.

Hi - thanks for the note - In fact, it is the converted Arno trees, and as the directions suggest, I've placed both the .bgl and the .txt files into the "Addon Scenery "Scenery" folder"...Nothing shows up in the EZ list, though. I assume that the folder is active since EZ can access it. I'll go back and check again.Just out of curiosity, what are the other three on your list? Thanks!Andrew

>Just out of curiosity, what are the other three on your list?>>Thanks!>AndrewThe others are ABW_tree_library by Scot Ingram, s/b at Avsim. And two at GianP's site; http://home.tele2.it/gianp/FSArea/BuildBlks.htmThe Gerrish Gray trees work very well in Hawai'i, but that's a seperate and necessary download.A quirk to remember is that Arno's trees need to be set at 0deg heading, while GianP's work recommends a setting of around 145deg. More than once I've had to catch myself and go back and decompile my BGL file and change headings.......Lance
