Adding static aircraft to scenery on FS2002?

Recommended Posts

Guest Revol44

Sorry, I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to FS design. But I've tried the AI thing and it all seems a bit complex but I don't want to be flying into/out of empty airports, lol. So my question is: Is it possible to add static aircraft, preferably the ones I have on my list on FS2002 Create A Flight, to an existing airport and if so, how? I have AFCAD if that helps. Cheers.

Since no one has chimed in for you, I will try.I don't know if this will work in FS2002, but years ago I used a tool by Trevor di Stigher called MDL2BGL or something like that. What you could do was take any aircraft .mdl file, and convert it to a .bgl (scenery) file, whereupon you could place it using lat/long coordinates.I think it used scasm but just can't remember. At any rate it might work for FS2002, with an older aircraft model. Probably the newer models, it will not convert.I think his file should still be available here at AVSIM, or if not here, then at a mirror of Mike Marando's Flight Sim Uploads. I think that is indeed the best approach when working for Fs2002. With the mentioned tool you can make an API macro of the aircraft, that you can then place as statics. As mentioned the tool only works on older models (probably Fs2002/Fs98 models work best). But for a static you want to stay a bit low on the polygon count anyway :).
