Looking at the sky today (solid layer of strato cumuli) I wondered if we couldn't create a mesh of the layer and slap a texture on it like we do with the ground but in the other direction... That would take care of the cpu intensive creation of volumetric clouds and would, finally, allow for an unbroken layer.

Brilliant idea! Thinking "out of the box".The textures would need a lot of work in order to avoid looking repetitive. And there used to be a limit on the size of objects, although I do not know if that limit still exists in FS X.Best regards.Luis
