KOSH Question

Recommended Posts

Guest NathanT24

I just got the EAA KOSH 2008 Booklet in the mail, and I know the 2002 MS KOSH had this but is there a way to add the colored dots on the runways that have them? If so how or could someone do it for me if I gave you the colors and where to put them?

Hello:Which version of FS (2002=FS8, 2004=FS9, or FSX) are you wanting to work with? :-roll NOTE: See also Pages 19+ in http://www.airventure.org/atc/pdfs/atc_complete.pdf...and http://www.airventure.org/atc/exiting.html#Parking from main page:Understanding Air Traffic Control at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh:http://www.airventure.org/atc/index.htmlPS: The 2008 airventure NOTAM is also downloadable as a PDF:http://www.airventure.org/2008/flying/2008_notam.pdfGaryGB

Hi Nathan:Oshkosh is a photorealistic custom texture scenery done in the FS2KX format; it will obliterate any VTP textured polygons above or below the photorealistic custom texture scenery layer.I believe one may still be able to add the colored dots as "texture decals" by placing a FS2002 SDK planar 3D textured ground polygon at an elevation slightly above the elevation of the photorealistic textures, or perhaps by using a type of custom FS airport marking using AFCAD or another FS2004 airport file format compatible method.Possibly one of the FS2KX format airport creation/editing utilities might have a built-in method of doing this?Alternatively, there may be a way to create a custom sign or decal as a 3D scenery object without a crash box attribute, texture it, convert it into an FS2KX format library object, then place it horizontal at runway level?Perhaps others here more familiar with these specialized methods might offer some additional insights as well?Hope this helps! :-) GaryGB
