Terrain Mesh Problem

I'm kind of new to this and was wondering what programs I need to do mesh scenery's. I've tried to find something about this but no luck. Do I need to have programing knowledge for these to work. I tried to find Microsoft SDK but couldn't find it. Can someone give me a hand here.Dave

Basically the main problem with starting to do mesh is finding decent data, this depends greatly on the area you want to work on. Say for instance in the US, there's quite alot of good quality data available free off the net. Sometimes the scenery's already been created. Check the File Library. The main data form is in *.DEM (Digital Elevation Model). I'm not real sure on the technical terms of it, someone else might be able to explain here. Also elevation maps which are black and white images spaning a landmass, black being the lowest altitude and white the highest. The Terrain SDK shouldn't be too hard to find. It explains most of the questions you're after.There's programs out there that do most of the hard work for you the two common ones for me are (Terrabuilder) www.terrabuilder.com and (FSTerrain).. not sure on a URL here.
