July 3, 200322 yr Thank you all for your input, answers, questions, suggestions, and writing and releasing of software tools.Over the last 4-5 weeks I've been reading and trying the different ways of producing Mesh scenery from USGS sites. Much time is spent in downloading the data, then a equal time working with that data.I have found that SRTM data leaves too many problems, with holes, spikes and such. I've used TIFF and BIL files from Seamless.usgs.gov. TIFF takes too long to d/l and doesn't seem to provide anything better then BIL data does. A 1/2 degree by 1/2 degree TIFF file is about the same size as a 1 degree by 1 degree BIL file. So I'll be using BIL files from now on.I've covered most of SoCal with LOD10 mesh, and the land has come alive. Here's a link to shots/pictures I uploaded this evening. Yesterday I took some pictures to compare to FS2002. Then this today I made screen shots at the same loctions in FS. This is the result.http://www.datahosts.com/mesh/compare/This was a down and dirty job on the pages, so if there's any problems, please let me know so I can fix it.Tim
