Stupid Question I Know, but........

I have a question about wind direction. If FSNavigator is reporting wind at 270/65 does that mean that the wind is blowing FROM the west or TOWARD the west? I am currently flying from Honolulu to Los Angeles with these winds and the aircraft is fighting a definite headwind. Thanks for any help!!John-Paul

Don't have the FSNavigator but in the real world of flying it would mean the wind is blowing FROM the west.Michael J.

They taught us in USCG navigation school:"Wind is named from whence it came."Wind reported at 270 is from 270 degrees, blowing from the West.Hope that helps! :7-CP

the other number 65 is it the speed in Knots?If so, Isn't a llitle bit strong??looks like flying into something scary..........

65 is the speed in knots. And that is not the least bit scary for winds aloft. Depending on the altitude being reported, they could be a tad strong and would slow you down if you were flying against them, but what a joy if you were heading east!Bob
