What's worng...............ME or AI??

Recommended Posts

I am trying to establish 9 boeing 747's to fly the pattern in KLAX.I setup the runways: 24R for takeoff and 24L for landing. As far as ATC that works fine. All the planes are directed to takeoff from 24R and land on 24L. The AI planes comply all the way. BUT, after acknowleding landing instructions from ATC and lining up with 24L and when they are about 400 feet above ground, they request to go around.I've yet to see one land.I am copying my flightplans in here in the hope that some good sould would tell what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help.AC#47,NORT,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:00:00,02:15:00,012,F,0001,KLAX,02:30:15,02:45:15,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#48,LUFT,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:02:00,02:17:00,012,F,0001,KLAX,02:32:14,02:47:14,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#49,KLM,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:04:00,02:19:00,012,F,0001,KLAX,02:34:15,02:49:15,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#47,NORT2,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:06:00,02:20:59,012,F,0002,KLAX,02:36:15,02:51:15,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#48,LUFT2,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:08:00,02:23:00,012,F,0002,KLAX,02:38:14,02:53:14,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#49,KLM2,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:10:00,02:25:00,012,F,0002,KLAX,02:40:14,02:55:14,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#47,NORT3,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:12:00,02:27:00,012,F,0003,KLAX,02:42:15,02:57:15,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#48,LUFT3,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:14:00,02:29:00,012,F,0003,KLAX,02:44:15,02:59:15,012,F,0001,KLAXAC#49,KLM3,49%,4Hr,VFR,02:16:00,02:31:00,012,F,0003,KLAX,02:46:14,03:01:14,012,F,0001,KLAXThanks.Abe

Not anything you are doing.I have done the same thing at a few airports using general aviation aircraft. It works st some and not at others.I forget the name of the arpt at the moment, but it is the onewith a single east-west runway just southeast of KLAX. You pass iton close final to 25 at KLAX. Won't work there either. The more I play with these flightplans, the funnier things get.Today at Charlotte (I have over 60 gates filled to capacity), A 737started to do his gate departure when after about 90 degress into his turn, he simply taxied into the main part of the terminal then did a 180 and went merrily on his way. Maybe he was violating the alcohol curfew.CheersWarren

Your're not doing anything wrong, its those Artificial Idiots. I had an AI 737 go on a shallow nose-down dive in Seattle, then refusing to flare and nosewheel hit the runway first. Stupid guy. Luckily one of my A330 pilots weren't drunk and landed his A330 with a nice flare and a hard landing that kicked up tons of dust at Boeing Field.http://www.someplacesomewhere.com/uploaded/9vsve/sig.jpg

Thanks guys. There's nothing more frustrating than doing something so meticulously and not having it work correctly and not knowing that you screwed up or the program did.(lol)Hope Ms (hope, hope) or one of the programming geniuses will come up with an answer in the near future. Thanks again.Abe

although the problem is partially with the AI,it's not so realistic to let a 747 fly a pattern.he'll have not enough time to maintain a good speed,to line up properly...regards,Seba

Hi Abe,I also can't find a mistake you did in the plan, but I faced the same problem too when programming patterns with a default 747 in TTools.I tried to let my 747s fly the patterns on IFR (not VFR like you), but they always crashed during landing. They start to flare some 200 ft above the runway and then announce a go around. But it's too late as the aircraft starts to stall. So shortly after they drop like rocks on the runway and dissapear...First I thought the problem is with the airport (it's a FS98 airport and all facilities made from scratch using AFCAD), but it also happened on a FS2002 default airport. Then I let the 747 do short trips (some 50 nm) instead of a go around and since then they land nicely. So I guess the problem is when departure and arrial airport are too close to each other...777s and other aircrafts don't show this behaviour...Frank

Hi Frank,Thanks for the insight.I tried a variety of small aircraft as a substitute for the 747's, I succeeded with only 1 landing.I also tried the balloons, hope everybody had a chance to download them.......they're fun. I substituted the balloons, again for the 747's, which have a speed of 5 or 9 knots. They are a sight to behold when they taxi one after the other, very colorful.......makes you feel like a kid.(lol). Anyways, they taxi okay, they are lined up. They hold short off the runway. Then when each is cleared for takeoff, it vanishes....POP........as if I am holding a needle and popping them one by one (lol). I would love them to be able to fly the pattern that would be extremely colorful.Again would appreciate any hint or help or solution.Thanks.Abe
