Who gets the parking spots first ?

Recommended Posts

I have started experimenting with the incredible worldai10a.zip worldwide ai flightplans package.I haven't managed to locate, download and install all of the 1000 aircraft yet (!) but I have a few repaints loaded in the liveries of the major international airlines, and have added some AFCAD downloaded gates to major airports. I added the worldwide flightplans to the default MS plans, ran TTools compiler, and went to look at the world. What surprises me is that wherever or whenever I start, Landmark Soar and Pacifica seem to have got to the gates first, and I see very few of my international fleets. So who gets first choice of the available gates if there are more aircraft looking for gates than are actually available? The most likely thing is that the gates fill up starting with AC#1. Anyone know for sure?

Aircraft are loaded in the order of their flight plans. Put your new flight plans at the top of the flightplan.txt file.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thanks for the kind words. I'm a scientist, and try to use a systematic method of trying things out. When I started doing this, I noticed just what you did - the default flight plans got parking places ahead of my planes. I then started trying things (like reordering the aircraft.txt list - a real pain), and finally hit on putting my flight plans first. This time spent tinkering leads to the other reason: I have probably spent over 100 hours editing airports and creating new flight plans... :)Take care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

My response to such questions is:"Anyone can become an expert at FS (or any field) by being willing to read more, tinker more and fly less!"Wouldn't it be nice to get paid for all those hours? :)

John,Oh why oh why did you mention that... I started figuring out how much I should have made from all of my "work" - things I didn't really need to do, but someone else requested it - and can you say "millionaire"? :)And I know you are probably sitting right there in the "club" with me.Take care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
