Adding AI...close to tears...:(

Because im close to insanity also in this thread my question:I am now in my 3rd week of trying to find out how to add AI traffic, plans, bla bla..And already passed on importing real flightplans and going 'for i hoped to be' simple Traffic shuffler...Ok i also using AIscedule, which gives me incorrect atc_xxx in the cfg files, and for 2 days now changing every airline correctly and adding it to airlines.cfg.Then AI scedule says that all the atc_models and atc_types are wrong??..Every delevoper put there BOEING or AIRBUS but this program says its wrong, after finding a big table with all sorts of weird names for the atc_type i did a test with one atc_type and nope still wrong, README says nothing about it..so ok, maybe bug.I go to AIshuffler go through all the steps and in the end it only makes plans for light aircrafts and no single heavy is used ???Its really getting nervewracking, i havent flew in days to get this solved and I put more time into this $%^#%&%^& AI then into flying. Is there any, a.n.y., ANY program there that really scans through aircraft.cfg files and really corrects them.ThanksPaulPS i tried worldAI but all airline numbers are N1234 AND Airlines file gets new codes like AA=American Airlines. And too sort all this out, multiply the 3 weeks by 3 years i think.

Paul. If I was in your shoes, I'd go back to zero. Restore the original traffic.bgl to default. Remove all of these AI programs. Use the latest version of TTools (v1.2). Use it only. I've looked those other programs, and have elected to use TTools only. Yeah it's more work, but I have no problems with adding AI nor editing flight plans. Currently working with 155 AI aircraft.Download a document from simflight by Peter McLeland called "A Short Tutorial on Improving Your AI." It's under topic "Tips and Tutorials." It documents everything you have to do very clearly and simply. You will use NOTEPAD to edit entries to the traffic .bgl. Just my recommendation. Adding AI aircraft, with the knowledge of the McLeland document, is easy and successful.Good LuckRick

As 727Fan replied, start easy. Make a easy short hop from one airfield to another and back involving just 1 or 2 aircraft, making sure that they are AI compatable. Perhaps just using the default aircraft at first until you get the hang of it. What I did, was write a short flight plan that will have aircraft take off and just make about a 15 mile circle and come back and land. This allows me to test fly AI aircraft. Frankly, with a little practice, I have found that TTools is all I need.

Of course, I'm very much 'old school' with regards to computers, since I've been around since the very beginning (you know, abacuses!)... :)Most folks today are GUI point-n-clickers, and do not take the time to fully 'flow chart' - even if only mentally - the processes they're attempting. The key to success lies in understanding what is to be done at the base level. Once that understanding is achieved, then doing the work becomes quite facile.

thank you for replying, and i think you both are very right...starting at zero. I am a person that collects so all these aircrafts with different aircraft.cfg's sufficated me.When you read about AIshuffler it shows that it is the fastest option to build a somehow reliable AI and i think the program is too strict too handle a large amount of planes by different authors, which really sad because i love AI traffic :-)Ah well, back to square 1Greetz,Paul

Bill, i know but also think thats the way development goes. For example partitioning in the DOS age of computers was a 2 day project with backup and all and FDISK..now its near realtime where its easy to keep your Data and partition your harddrive. So why does a newcomer to partitioning needs to know how FDISK works. But i do very much agree with you on AI traffic the tools arent good enough and without a proper SDK by MS developers are creating their planes according their thoughts resulting into chaotic loops like i am in right now. Ah well :-) At least i have some beers in the fridge, you want one? :-)Greetz,Paul
