Please Help. AC disappearing after landing correctly

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hello. I am currently working on gates for the new KDTW scenery. I had to redo the gates, move and rename the runways add a runway and redo most of the taxiways. Everything seems to be going fine except all of the aircraft disappear after landing. Some even come to a complete stop on the runway before they vanish. There is plenty of parking so that is not the problem. I have changed runways and the ac still disappear. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this.:-zhelp JeffDetroit, MI USAGO WINGS!!!(as in NHL, not The Discovery Channel)

Only a few. Make sure that there is a valid path from the runway to the gates (do the Final Checks section of the AFCAD manual).Make sure that there are sufficient parking spots and that they are large enough (critical). Remember that FS will reserve one of the largest spots of each type (Gates, Ramps, etc.) for your own plane. Try enlarging the parking spots and see if anything changes. If the airport is overlaid:Make sure that you have the same tower frequency for all overlays at this airport. Make sure that you move the ref points so that landing aircraft contact the proper overlay.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thanks for the reply. I think I have covered all of the bases. I have checked my flightplans and they are ok as well. I did witness a couple of aircraft taxi to the gates (atc directed them to GA parking- i assume it did this because my gates are currently classified as parking) but the vast majority vanished after landing. I have tried several aircraft and all of the runways. I have over 100 gates and there are clearly enough available including heavies. One interesting thing it that I landed there and atc would not give me progressive taxi. I thought this may mean that there is a break in the taxiways but ac seem to get to the runways ok for takeoff. In addition a couple did go to their gate. Another dumb suggestion - make sure you quit and restart FS before doing any testing.-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Did that as well. I was out for the last 5 hours so i decieded to let fs run and see where it ended up. I am using john's Northwest flights and my own Spirit, Southwest, KLM and ATA flight plans. Needless to say, my KDTW is extremely busy. The airport was packed at 5:00 pm when I left. At 10:00 it is a ghost town. I don't think one aircraft made it to the gate. They were still landing one after another and disappearing. JeffDetroit, MI USAGO WINGS!!!(as in NHL, not The Discovery Channel)

More Info:The aircraft come to a complete stop, atc tells them to turn next taxiway and then they vanish. The only aircraft that make it to the gate are the first two aircraft that land after I go to the airport. After those two, all other aircraft vanish in the manner above.:-hang JeffDetroit, MI USAGO WINGS!!!(as in NHL, not The Discovery Channel)

Make sure that your flight plans are correct. Decompile the traffc.bgl file and check to see that each repeat of your flights can be completed in the time given - if not they will disappear.-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I tried that as well. The flightplans look good. They worked great with the default scenery. Furthermore, many of the flights at kdtw end up at kmsp. KMSP is flowing rather well. I have never seen a problem just like this. I am usually able to solve my traffic editing hicups but this one has me baffled. I would start from scratch but it took me a whole day to get the runways, taxiways and parking the way I wanted. My next endevor was to do overlays to have seperate runways for Northwest and Mesaba and all other traffic. I currently have 115 gates and the airport is too busy for just two runways. The only "real" problem I see ... taxiway points way too close to the 'hold short' taxiway points.... I removed all but the one at the intersection and reconnected them and everything worked fine.I'll also assume that this is NOT default scenery? lol-j

I'll redo those and see how it works. This is for the recently release KDTW scenery by Paul Mainville. He did a pretty nice job and the frame rates are not too bad (they are actully terrible but thats becuase I have 70-80 aircraft on the ground at once and not the fault of the scenery). Thanks again for your help. JeffDetroit, MI USAGO WINGS!!!(as in NHL, not The Discovery Channel)
