Interesting Overlay Observation

Recommended Posts

Guest N247BK

In one of my many KRIC overlay configurations, I had completely removed all taxiways and parking on the opposing sides of the layers (each side had one runway, with adjoining taxiways; none "shared" across sides). From the RIC2 layer (its RWY is 2/20) last night ... after finally getting everything working ... I was cleared by "ground" to RWY 16 for departure, which is associated with the other layer.I would have thought that runway to be unavailable since there was no association with the side I was parked on.

Doesn't really surprised me, I'm sure it just dumbly picks whatever runway looks juciest. If you're feeling devious, why not try asking for progressive taxi and see where it draws the pink lines? :-sae

When you contact ground for takeoff, you will be contacting the overlay with the closest reference point. Turns out that it was the other overlay that time. BTW, this is NOT true for the AI aircraft; they will always contact the proper overlay.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
