Com Frequencies in AFCAD--continued plea for help

Recommended Posts

Folks, this is sort of a continuation of my plea for help previously posted under the thread "Can't use Flight Planner after AFCAD???"Briefly, now that I have 85% of my gates at KATL filled and all 4 runways in use, with so many AI Flights, I find I can't so easily do any real flying myself because I can't get in to get Clearance between all the AI pilots communications--at least not without waiting 10-15 minutes until ATC gets "caught up".Someone suggested the bright idea of reassigning com frequencies so that some of the aircraft will be contacting a different controller. The hope is that will at least cut in half the number of transmissions.I am getting ready to try that but, as always, it would be great if someone else has already tried this approach. If you have already tried this, or if you have any ideas about the best approach to doing this, I would certainly appreciate your comments.I have checked and found that all of the currently assigned frequencies in the FS2K2 KATL are exactly the same ones actually assigned in the real world. And with such a busy airport, as expected, I've also found that there are multiple frequencies assigned to the various functions such as Ground, Tower, Departure, Approach, etc. And I have found that they are generally divided so that one set is used for the runways on the north side and another set is used for the south runways. Therefore, I think my general approach will be to mirror that real world situation. I already have 8 overlays that subdivide the terminal parking tieing those spaces on the north ends of the concourses to the north runways and vice versa. My question is that will it simply be a matter of assigning north side frequencies to my north side overlays and vice versa. That sounds awful simple--maybe too good to be true???In other words: I have KAT1, KAT2, KAT3, and KAT4 using the north runways, so I plan to give those access to only the north side frequencies. Then I plan to assingn the south side frequencies to KAT5-KAT8.I think the way to do this is simply to use AFCAD to delete the south side frequencies from the north side overlays KAT1-4, and likewise delete the north side frequencies from KAT5-8.Any of you guys got any thoughts/experiences with this approach????

Bill,I haven't tried this, but it should work slicker than a pig swimming through a bucket full of sn*t (i.e. nose runoff). :)Take care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
