Removing AFCAD files

Recommended Posts

Perhaps I missed this in an earlier post. I have altered the European NW afd file by installing AFCAD files of different sceneries, and the original FS2002 file was saved. Now I have removed a specific scenery from the European NW afd file. How does one removed the associated AFCAD file only for that specific scenery without affecting any others? Thanks

Since Updated Scenery files and AFDFiles Scenery files are two separate entities, you would have to use your *.ORIGINAL AFDFiles Scenery file to return to the default airport parking, etc. You can do this simply by deleting the updated AFDFiles Scenery file and renaming the *.ORIGINAL to *.bgl. If by chance you have overwritten the *.ORIGINAL or deleted it, you would have to retrieve and unpack the original *.bgl from your CDs.Edited: After rereading your post, I think I may have misunderstood. First, I would make sure I have a FS2002 default AFDFiles Scenery file in a safe place on my harddrive. I don't know if AFCAD saves a new *.ORIGINAL each time you Save the file. If this occurs, your *.ORIGINAL would have succeeding changes within it and would not be the FS2002 default file anymore. Since I haven't used AFCAD other than to view others files, I will leave it to someone else to answer your post.

There are no succeeding changes, AFCAD saves the *.ORIGINAL only on the first usage of that particular bgl.ckfly

If I only have one airport in that BGL that I modified, then I just restore the .ORIGINAL file. However, if I have several modified airports in that file, and would like to revert only one to the default airport, here's how I do that:1. Rename xxx.bgl to xxx.bgl.modified.2. Rename xxx.ORIGINAL to xxx.bgl (you now have the default BGL installed).3. Load the default airport into AFCAD, and Export it as ICAOorig.txt.4. Now rename xxx.bgl to xxx.ORIGINAL5. Rename xxx.bgl.modified to xxx.bgl (you now have your modified BGL installed).6. In AFCAD, Import your ICAOorig.txt file. When it asks to overwrite, say YES.7. Save the file. You have now reverted that one airport to the default, but kept all your other modified airports.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I have almost always found that the explanation is FAR more difficult than the action being explained! And writing clear instructions is a real art!Congrats Tom on being a true artist! :)Happy Flying!Bill MolonyAtlanta GA USAUnder the 27L Approach to KATL--the busiest airport in the world :)
