One way taxi ways?

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi All,Just wondering if it is possible to have a taxi way in which ac can only travel in one direction. Why i ask is that at TAPA there are only 2 entrance/ exits to get to the runway and planes have to backtrack to T/O.Now the prob is that when an ac has just landed, and one is queued for T/O, they bump nose to nose and then this clogs up the whole airport. So i think the only slution is to make one taxiway an exit and one an entrance to the runway. Is this possible?anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.Regards,Professa

As far as I know this is not possible. But you could design some parallel exit/entry taxiways if there is enough room.ckfly

Hmmm, Well that definitely is not a possibility... the taxiways are harldy big enough for one ac in the first place :-)And they discontinued building our parallel taxiway, so there wont be any solution for this for a long time....Oh well thanks alot for your help though, professa

I guess I don't quite understand. If the plane ready to take off is holding off the runway, then he shouldn't be able to enter the runway before the landing plane exits the runway. At that point there MUST be a place where the planes can pass each other somewhere (how would they do it in real life?). If not, you'll need to add a "grass taxiway" to get them by each other. This would be best as an extra exit off the runway, just before the entrance.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Its a pity that the AI controller does not allow an aircraft to hold on the rwy.In the UK you often get an instruction "After the landing aircraft, line up and hold"That allows the aircraft to sit on the rwy after the landing has gone by him and he gets his takeoff clearance once the lander has got off the runway. It would improve the departure rate to a more acceptable rate.Rgds Ron
