New to all of this - a bit of help

Can someone please give me the short version of how the Project AI base download and airline self extraction files work? Looking for documentation in the download and can't find anything. Is this a turn key? Self extract and go?Thanks for your help. Colin

The base installer replaces your default fs2002 traffic.bgl with a new one that is approximately 1/3 the size depending on whether you select the GA option. It also places all the Project AI aircraft in your fs2002aircraft folder. In the base installer, you probably won't have any texture files associated with these aircraft, just the base aircraft with model and sound subfolders. When you add the different Airline installers, they provide the additional texture folders for that airline, e.g., texture.afr, texture.vir, etc. Also as you add the different Airline installers, it updates the new traffic.bgl with the new plans for that airline. One of the mistakes many have made is not watching where they load the installers. By default, it is set to: c:program filesmicrosoft gamesfs2002. If you don't have your fs2002 at this location, you must change the pointer to the proper location.

So, to clarify, if I use the base self-installing installation, then add several of the airlines, these will automatically update the traffic patterns in MSFS2002 - and the thing then that I would need to worry about is whether or not I have enough gates at my airports for the flights? Thanks.

I guess in a short course - yes! Make sure you are at an airport that the airlines you installed use! I would also put your percentage of AI to 100%, if your computer can support the load.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
