"Flight Repeat Period"

Recommended Posts

Guest

I need some clarification as to how the repeat period in the flight plans work. Say I have a repeat period of 8Hrs...Does that mean:a.) Every 8Hrs after midnight the flight will repeat orb.) Every 8Hrs after I start the sim the flight will repeat? Thanks for your help.

Close but not quite. If you set the initial departure time at 2 AM (02:00), then the flight will depart at 02:00 and then return, depart at 10:00 and return, depart at 18:00 and return. It will then leave at 02:00 the next morning. If you set the departure time at, say, 18:00, the compiler will automatically change this to 02:00, since that would be the first departure of the day.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Neither. It means that the flight will repeat every 8 hours after the departure time, as appearing in Flightplans.txtStamatis

Thanks for the answer fellas, much appreciated. I have one follow up question - does a flight have to have enough time to return to the point of origin before another flight is generated? Or does the computer automatically generate a flight once the repeat time frame is met regardless of weather the aircraft has actually made it back yet? Thanks again for your help.

According to my experience todate, the program will "generate" a flight at the calculated time.AI flights are not actually ever flown in full, unless you keep tracking a specific AI aircraft to within 80 nm of it. This is because AI traffic is only existing within a radius of 80 nm around the location of your aircraft. Outside of that area there is no AI traffic at all.Stamatis

One qualification on my above reply though: If you position yourself to the departure airport of that flight longer than 15 minutes before the next scheduled departure time, and if the aircraft does not have enough time to fly back and forth within the specified cycle, then you will not see it at a gate, for its next departure. If on the other hand you position to the departure airport within 15 minutes of its next scheduled departure time, then my experience is that you will see it departing on time, as if it had completed its previous leg. Always assuming there are enough gates of course.Stamatis
