AI at Sanger, Oregon

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, I have a scenery i uploaded a few months ago (Sanger, Oregon) and I want to add AI flights to it. I have added the tower and everything else that you can inset in AFCAD. Then added it to the airport list, installed flight plans with default aircraft that work at similar airports, and had it going to a nearby airport that has AI flights already (KRDM), complied it, yet I can't get any flights to show up, any ideas what I am doing wrong??Thanks, Michael

A couple of things.Put yourself at Sanger and see if the ATC works, from parked to takeoff. If not, then your tower or taxiways aren't set up properly.Second, how far away is KRDM from Sanger? If closer than 10 NM or so it's too close - choose an airport farther away.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. I get no options in ATC for Sanger, only departing different ways and after take off and choosing an airport option, Sanger isn't one of them, so I guess it isn't set up right, but in AFCAD, it gives me no options other than inserting the tower, how do I set it up. I am good at scenery design, but suck at ATC technicalities! LOLThanks for your help!Michael :-)

Hi Michael,I would suggest you open an airport of a similar size in AFCAD (one that works with FS2002 ATC and AI).Have a look at the different frequencies of that airport. If my memory serves me right you need a Tower and a Ground frequency that AI aircraft will show up. If Sanger does not have Ground manned in real life, then just make up a frequency. Just make sure it is different from the nearby airports' frequencies. Well, that's what I did when I set up a fictional airport once.Good luck!Frank

Guys, I appreciate all the help, BUT, I give up!! I read through AFCAD and it said how to add ATC to an airport, did that, copied freq from several different airports and still it doesn't show in the ATC list while flying, I have way smaller strips showing in the list and I have opened them up in notepad and can see no differences in the two. I have plenty of gates of different sizes, and several flight plans of default aircraft, but nothing. I set up 2 default airports in Alaska that had no AI and no gates with flights with no problem, don't know why this one is so difficult, probably something very simple that I am missing. If anyone has any more insight, that would be great! Thanks, Michael

Got to List/Frequencies in AFCAD and add a Tower frequency. This is what's meant by "adding a tower". It's all explained in the manual - Adding ATC to an Airport.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thanks Tom, I did figure that out right after my first reply, for some reason when I click ATC I just get takeoff instructions, I tend to think it has something to do with the BGL, since it is not a default airport, I had to search for the BGL in the scenery folder to have it even show up in AFCAD, I added it to FS2002 with TTools and switched the BGLs to both the scenery folder and the AFD folder to see if it made any differences. Would you be willing to check it out? Just curious. Thanks, Michael

Sorry, I've never created a new airport - I wouldn't know what to look for...-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi Michael,I don't think it has to do anything with the .bgl file.In my opinion you could create airports with AFCAD that do not even exist in the scenery. You could have ATC, traffic and all that without any scenery. So I'm pretty sure it's just related with your AFCAD files. If you upload your files somewhere on a web space I volunteer to have a try.I once created AFCAD files for a fictinous airport, so I don't see a reason why Sanger, Oregon should make problems - ;-)Clear Skies!Frank
