CH FlightSim yoke products, please help

Recommended Posts

Hi !I'm in the market for a CH FlightSim Yoke.My problem is that I'm not sure which one to get. There is this gameport version with only the throttle lever, and there are USB versions (3-lever and 1-lever).Are there significant benefits in USB over gameport? What about the mixture and prop -levers. Have you found good use for them in FS2002 (besides the functions they are intended for?).All advise etc. is GREATLY appreciated as always. Thanks,Tero

Hi Tero,This will apply if you are in the USA.I have the CH USB 19 Function 3 lever yoke and CH Pro USB Rudder Pedals. They work Great.I paid $96 and $98 for each from http://www.cruxworks.comIf you go to Pricewatch, cruxworks has on-line coupons you can enter in the order section on their site for a dscount. I bought on a Friday and received on a Monday.Regards,Joe :-wavehttp://home.attbi.com/~jranos/mysig.jpg http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gif

Hi Tero,I would recommend USB. If for no other reason, then because of this item from Maximum PC magazine June 2002 page 21.Referring to the fact that "Microsoft had dropped support for its gameport profiling-software under Windows XP . . ."The magazine column "WatchDog" reports that Microsoft responded, ". . . the short answer is that the devices are too old to justify continued support. Gameport joysticks and gamepads have been out of circulation for years now, and Microsoft, along with other joystick manufactures (sic) has decided they are obsolete. The company says that gameport devices still work in XP, it's just that the profiling software is unsupported."Seems like handwriting on the wall to me. R-
