Error - Unable to locate FS2002

Recommended Posts

Guest

I'm using Windows XP Pro, and had to install FS2002 to C: and then move it to another partition manually. I found 4 keys in the registry pertaining to its location and edited them, but I'm getting an "unable to find FS2002" error when trying to run the compiler. Any ideas?

I guess I don't understand why you "had to install to drive c:"! Did your computer balk at locating it in another partition?I recommend you NOT mess with all the entries in your registry. I recommend you copy your fs2002 folder and rename the copy fs2002OLD. Take the fs2002 folder you moved and place it back in the c: partition that you moved it. Uninstall fs2002 via the Windows Add/Remove Programs menu. Open Windows Explorer, delete the residual fs2002 folder (NOT the fs2002OLD folder).Reinstall fs2002 to the partition you want it placed. Once installed, start fs2002 to ensure it operates correctly. If so, rename the fs2002 folder to fs2002NEW. Rename fs2002OLD to fs2002 (I am assuming you have both folders in the same partition. If not, move fs2002OLD to the correct partition first, then rename). Restart fs2002 to see if your old copy works properly. If so, try running the compiler to see if it now locates your fs2002.Another area of concern. Some addon programs only allow you to use your administrators side of Pro to open certain programs. You might have to assign administrator privileges to get it to work. It still may not work.
