AFCAD Question?

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to use AFCAD to check an AFCAD file without installing it in FS2002? I like the Fault Finder function and want to check some AFCADS for errors before I install them. There are so many floating around with numerous erors. Thanks, regards, Bob.

Hi Bob:simply import the airport you'd like to check and then run Fault Finder. If you don't like what you see, select File/Open Airport and answer "no" when asked to save the one you didn't like. I do that all the time to check out different versions, though I haven't tried the fault finder bit yet. Usually, my criteria are more general, e.g., gate and taxiway layout.Cheers, Holger

EVERYONE should use fault-finder! It's simple, quick and very thorough. It's particularly good at finding path breaks and overlapping nodes, which are often hard to spot visually.

Hi Captain:sorry, I didn't mean to say that I don't use Fault Finder; I use it always and agree that it is extremely helpful. My point was that I hadn't used it in the particular circumstance of checking out different versions of the same airport, i.e., when switching back and forth between two or more without saving. I assumed Fault Finder would work in these situations (no obvious reason why not) but didn't want to tell Bob (and the world) something I hadn't confirmed myself.Sorry about the confusion ;-)Cheers, Holger
