FS9 has a formula it uses to select runways for takeoff and landing and this formula appears to disregard closed runways in certain circumstances.I am no AFCAD expert and cannot tell you the exact formula and I'm not sure that at this point anyone can. However there is a sticky on the PAI AFCAD forum called:'FS AI Departing Runways Asisgnments..etc'.[http://www.projectai.com/index.php]Go to the above PAI Forum (Message Board/PAI AFCAD Discussions) and the thread is the 3rd sticky.Maybe more than you wanted to know, but it is interesting and shows that there is more to it than just open/closed runways.

I noticed that you said that you closed R24 for landing. If you did not also close R6 FS9 will disregard the closed status for R24 under any circumstances. Both ends must be closed.
