I Need An AI Traffic Refresher Please

Recommended Posts

I was an avid and experienced user of FS2002, TTools, and AFCAD.Then when FS9 came out, I could NOT make that sucker stay stable onmy old system nor new system. I did install the patch too, yet CTDswere always lurking in the background. The latest version of TTools and AFCAD were employed in FS9 as they were in FS2K2.Now I learned that TTools 202 was done only reluctantly by Lee Swordy, and something about an SDK for FS9 and FSX that does the same things TTools and AFCAD did.Would somebody in the know explain to me:1. If not TTools 202, then what works best for FS9?2. If it's an SDK, where do I get it?3. What's the latest utility to use for FSX, or is it invented yet?4. A general summary of the utilities available for FS9 and FSX that does what TTools and AFCAD did.THANKS VERY MUCH!! I removed FS9 from my system in Spring 2006because it just wouldn't stay stable, so I've not been keeping upon the latest developments like I should have.RegardsRick KMKE. Still green grass an open golf courses!

Hi,1. I use TTools.2. From the FS2004 SDK page. Keep in mind that it is only a compiler - it will not decompile files. Also, it requires things like a minimum of 45 minutes sitting at the gate.3. The traffic compiler in the FSX SDK (in the SDK folder on DVD 1 of the Deluxe edition). Same limitations as the FS2004 version. Some people are using FS2004 traffic files (which work OK). No AFCAD replacement yet. FS2004 AFCAD files work too, but have some problems.4. FSX: Traffic compiler in SDK (in Deluxe version). No AFCAD program.FS9: Traffic: I use TTools and AI Traffic Mover 2.0Airports: AFCAD, SceneGenX, SBuilder (I use AFCAD and SGX).You can do web searches to find almost all of these.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thanks for the response, Tom.Let me ask you then. Without Lee Swordy's TTools, how do we decompile .bgl files and add traffic and alter existing traffic?Or, what good is a compiler program, as you said existed in the SDK for FS9 and FSX, if there isn't a decompiler?Am I missing something here? Not trying to be cute, either. Thanks!!!Rick

Hi,You must create all flight plans from scratch if you want to use the MS compiler. It's in a different format than decompiled TTools plan files too.Remember, FS9 flightplan bgl files do work in FSX (with a few anomolies) and there is an FSX converter now available that is described at the EvolveAI forums. So you can do all your work using the FS2004 format and then convert it to FSX. Note that this isn't really converting into FSX format, just editing your FS2004 file to remove the anomolies. For example, WEEK plans will now fly on the correct day.Repeatedly decompiling files generates math rounding errors (which will slowly introduce timing errors into your plans), so it's a good idea to keep your source file and always work from that.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi All,I'm a little lost here and was wondering if one can use TTools in FSX. I understand that the airports in FSX have been changed somewhat. Does this mean that the airports presently listed in TTools for FS9 need to be updated. If this is the case, how does on do this??? Thanks for helping.

Hi,The airport listings for TTools are only to put the aircraft into the approximate airport area. So no changes need to be made, unless the airport has moved far away (miles) from the one in FS9.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
