Fly2k and Windows XP -- Yes or No

Recommended Posts

Guest

I have been using Fly2k on a Mac for quite some time and had purchased Fly 1.1 for windows when I found a copy in a discount bin. Is it possible to run Fly2k under windows xp, and if so besides updating with the final release patch, elevation patch and .88 sdk patch - what else need be done. Settings, int files????Thanks for all the help - DrJIM

Jim,Runs better on XP than anything else I've run it on. If you have a GeForce type card of at least 32MB, it will do fine. Get up to 64MB and you can turn on FSAA with great results + good performance. As far as patches, you should not need elevation or "Final" patch. Fly!2K includes those - just add Ground Control and add the SDK 1.01.88 Patch. To get the performance optimized, create a proper VCF file for your card - Elrond's original Video FAQ for Fly! is now posted on Salty's web site. After that, get all the other good stuff - Terrascenery, Sky!SE, C4TO, Rob's and others great v88 compatible aircraft, etc.

Randal,Thanks, I am starting from the original Fly 1.1 disks - and that they would need the updates. I am using a Getforce2 card in a notebook right now. Thanks for your response.DRJIM
