PMDG 757 FMS

Recommended Posts

After creating a flight plan in FLYII and initializing the FMS in the 757 I take off and activate the Autopilot. the AP automatically turns to 080 and begins the climb profile. It does not track the FP and will not let me turn off heading ode or turn on LNAV mode.Any ideas?

Based on the information provided, I will venture a guess that you are engaging the A/P and it is engaged in the default HDG HLD and V/S modes. To fly the Flightplan, you need to dial in an intercept heading in the heading window of the A/P mode control panel, and then depress the heading select dial to engage HG SEL mode. Once the A/C has come around to an intercept path you can arm LNAV and it should intercept your course. The manual covers A/P and FMS systems very well and should definately be required reading to enjoy the A/C properly. The complexity of the 757 makes it a hard A/C to just hop in and fly without understanding how things interact with one another. Hope this helpsRegardsPaul:-cool

Unfortunately, I cannot turn the airplane with the heading selector. It is as if the FMS has taken over the airplane. At no time can I turn off the heading selector whether the a/p is engaged or not. The only way I can turn the airplane is if I hand fly it. If I turn it to another heading then reengage the A/P it still turns back to 080 regardless of what it says in the heading selector.

Has this happened before, or is this a new condition? Also, to engage LNAV, you have to be within 30 degress of the intercept angle or the LNAV light will not light.Pressing VNAV should make the plane follow the climb profile, including the speed restrictions if the autothrottles are set.In the beginning, this was all very hard for me. Now, it's not that bad at all.The reason I asked if this was a NEW condition for you is that, originally, when I had problems with the autotrottles not responding, I posted a million posts on the forum, tried everything - nothing worked. So on a lark, I decided to reinstall the aircraft - & it worked BEAUTIFULLY! How 'bout that?!Good luck,Chris Catalano
