I've flown a lot with the MD-8X lately (in real life) and I'd really like a package similar to the DF734 and PIC767.Any news guys?Have a nice day!Christian

There are no good panels at this point, but there are some excellent payware visual models in a variety of liveries at www.vansairco.comMisha

I also can recommend the Vans MD series, they are worth the 10 bucks IMHO.Hornit

I was disappointed in the Van's package mentioned below. The exterior models are good, but no better than much of the freeware out there. The Virtual panel is pretty bad, and there is no 2D panel (737 default).

And which freeware MD-8x series aircraft might that be? AFG's is accurate, but outdated and lacks any kind of detail. Proyecto Cormoran's is very nice, but is not quite accurate around the nose and the wings. What else is there? VANS is by far the most accurate I have seen.Misha

Sorry - I don't see any detail on the Van's that I don't see on the AFG MDxx's for 2000 (except the dirty look for aging effect and the door). The only thing I thought I might gain is the working clamshell's, but I have yet to get them to work. Additionally, the virtual panel is low quality to the point that they might as well have not included it. A nice (or at least average) 2D panel would have been a plus to make it worth the money. This is only my opinion, if you like them, great. If not, understand that I thought it was a waste of $10.00 compared to many other aircraft that I have either for free or for similar $$.

Christian,I fly the '80s and '90s alot and I would recommend Steve Reyling's MD-90-30 to you, if you arent already flying it.The "package" that I made for myself is:AIRCRAFT:Steve's MD-90-30 (American Airlines livery)PANEL:Paul Golding's MD-87 panel (works great but flaps indicator not working)SOUND:The sound package that came with a freeware 727 American Airlines that was posted here some time ago (sorry, forgot the name)I was told the engines are very similar, and the racket those babies make when they spool up ...OY!...makes me drool like a dawg! :-)With this setup, Im in MD-Heaven!!I'll see if I can find out the name of that sound package. You really dont want to miss out on it.Hope this helps,Regards,Rich

The bottom line here is that If you want an MD-88...not an MD-80/82/90...but an honest to goodness MD-88, than this is the only one that gets it right for FS2K2. Im tired of textures not wrapping fuselages, night lighting not working etc. I use an EFIS panel for the MD-87 and default sounds with this Vans -88. I flew these for real for almost 7 years here at Delta and this is partly the reason I spent 10$. The textures are nice and its really the ONLY all MD-88 I have seen that doesn't have something wrong with textures or the visual model. It has a decent airfile also and Its characteristics are close to what I recall and that is enough to spend 10 dollars in my book. I'm not a huge VC fan and admittedly this has a marginal VC so its no big deal for me. Hornit

Rich,Thanks a lot for the tip. I've tried Golding's MD-87 panel before in FS2002, but I couldn't get it to work properly. I got errors with it. I've talked to some others which experienced the same thing. Have you installed any additional stuff?Hornit,Which MD-87 EFIS panel do you use? Cool that you've flown the MD-88. My friend's father flies on the SAS MD-80s.Have a nice day folks!Christian

Here are two MD panels I have used. They are frame rate friendly and work fine in FS2K2. They are available over at FsFreeeware. They may not be 100% accurate, but they are the closest Ive found. I have had a lot of problems with Paul Golding's panels so I got rid of them.http://flightsimmers.net/airport/hornit/88.jpghttp://flightsimmers.net/airport/hornit/88a.jpg

Tom,Do better research before you accuse people of theft. There is no panel in the VANS MD-8X series and therefore no FMC. Certainly nothing copied from Dreamfleet.Travis and others,The clamshell reversers work fine. You must have very bad graphics not to see the differences between AFG and VANS:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb7ae0fe038b8.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb67c0d994742.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb6c70e37240d.jpgHere is the reverser at work.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb6fd0e8c58be.jpgFor comparison, this is AFG. Good at its time, but just not up to date.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb72b0ed983d2.jpgIf you want freeware go with Proyecto Coromoranhttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb9121318da0c.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cebb88011cc134e.jpgThe reversers on the Proyecto Cormoran are spoiler activated, but it's a good model. Available at: http://usuarios.advance.com.ar/jcinsua/MD-80/MD-80.htmDon't want to get into a fight here, so look at the pics and decide for yourself. Either way accusing people of piracy should require a bit more proof. Misha
