Hi you guys,I just got this email from Vatsim"Hi Steve, just seen your upload of hawarden Scenery for Fly on AVSIM. Just wondering if you live around this area and how accurate your scenery is as I would prefer not to have any conflicts while Controlling on VATSIM. I cannot test it as I do not have fly. Would be interested in a test if we can."Well, he's right we dont want conflicts do we, and I made this scenery with that in mind so hopefully there isnt a problem. But you never know.....So please please if you use Vatsim could you test my scenery so I can give my friends at Vatsim the "ALL CLEAR"Please put your honest replys here, anything that may be happening in strange ways let me know. Many thanks Steve BrownMach 2 for fun!My Downloads Are:Liverpool EGGP John Lennon Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=17455EGNR Hawarden (Chester) Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=18370www.yourspaceormine.com http://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_brown/steve.jpg

I don't understand why VATSIM would be concerned with your scenery unless you have moved the airport. If everyone has to get approval from VATSIM befoe they upload scenery we are all in for a lot of grief.

The only thing I can think of is he may be referring to the accuracy of the taxiways and placement of the terminals. I would think taxiways would be the biggest issue as far as moving traffic and your position relative to other traffic. Terminals may also be an issue if there is a problem coming into or leaving a parking area.I'm looking forward to using VATSIM someday, but can't for a while because of projects I'm involved in.

Yes,I Kind of thought that myself. Maybe he thinks our Reproductions of airports arnt as "accurate" anyway this is what I took my taxiways and terminals/buildings from the PDF file. So if I copied the taxiways exactly with Taxiway editor I should be fine shouldnt I?Please let me know kind friendsSteveMach 2 for fun!My Downloads Are:Liverpool EGGP John Lennon Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=17455EGNR Hawarden (Chester) Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=18370www.yourspaceormine.com http://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_brown/steve.jpg

Steve,Maybe he thinks Fly! airports aren't as accurate as MS or that your taxiways and terminals may be off. If you followed this chart, you should be correct, so I wouldn't worry about it.Why don't you reply to him with your chart attached so he can see your resource. If you have every taxiway and terminal where it belongs, it shouldn't cause him any difficulty.Beyond this, thanks for providing a new resource for Fly! - keep them coming! :-)

SteveAs you probably know the CAA 'Aerodrome Chart' (quaint old fashioned English word now-'aerodrome') that you reproduced part of above has lat and long co-ordinates printed on it. It also has a co-ord printed at the top (see full chart at http://www.ais.org.uk/uk_aip/aip/pdf/ad/32NR0201.pdf)and this relates to the small cross in centre of the 05/23 runway. Therefore we have an accurate location for Hawarden. If you go into Fly!2 and load the editor (ctrl-E) you can 'jump' to the 'Airport Location'-and lo and behold Fly! centre runway is exactly the same lat and long as the CAA chart!Fly! is usually that accurate for most UK airfields-I notice that Farnborough is incorrect for instance but I am trying to use these CAA charts to align some forthcoming UK scenery.DaveT

I'll get a flight plan prepped and fly out of Hawarden next time I see Andy in residence. He does kind of see it as his own private property :-) but he's a nice guy really and he's passionate about controlling.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Thankyou ;)Im sure he really is and I can understand how passionate one can be. It would be nice for us not to be treated like second class flight simmers tho?Did I really say that?Sorry ;)SteveMach 2 for fun!My Downloads Are:Liverpool EGGP John Lennon Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=17455EGNR Hawarden (Chester) Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=18370www.yourspaceormine.com http://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_brown/steve.jpg

SteveI know what you mean. He did express surprise that anyone would want to use anything other than FS2002 to which I replied that that argument has already been done to death in a variety of locations.Taxxing out, I stopped at various locations and these were pretty close to his ATC sector file. Of course, this all depends on how accurately the coordinate system has been done within the products. Yo ucan be at the same lat/long and two different sims will show you in slightly different places. End result, it's close enough not to cause problems. You haven't placed any hold markings. These are pretty vital when flying online. One building appears to be in the wrong place. You've got one between apron A and taxiway A. I suspect this shold be on the construction site (apparently the panels are going onto the new factory at the moment). Thanks for some great scenery. I can see how much hard work has gone into this.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Andrew thanks very much ;)The only two pictures I had of this site were these, I searched the net and ended up sending Emails to the guys at Hawarden Airport for guidence. Sadly knowone got back to me. So off to the net I went again. I found I had two conflicting reports and thats where things may have gone wrong, on the building miss placement. Is their a way I can do a small fix for this, and do you know how and were the building should be? And will this missplacement cause any trouble on VATSIM as I want to put this right, If not I could always do an update and re do Hawarden after the work has finished. Thanks again AndySteve ;)Mach 2 for fun!My Downloads Are:Liverpool EGGP John Lennon Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=17455EGNR Hawarden (Chester) Airport UK.http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=18370www.yourspaceormine.com http://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_brown/steve.jpg

SteveLooking at what you had to go on here you've made a pretty good job of representing the airport. Changing the odd building is not going to make a difference to it's use on Vatsim. On the airport plan the large black area to the north west of Taxiway G is the construction site. Your photos are too old to show it. Andy may be able to help you here. Pay him a visit at http://www.hawarden.org.uk . If he's online then he usually has a voice chatroom going as well. Pop along and introduce yourself. If you're not already a member, then join Vatsim. Once you've used online controllers then you'll never want to go back to the AI variety.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH
