Went from ISZ (Blue Ash) to UYF (Madison Co., about 30 miles west of Columbus) to I74 (Grimes) to I17 (Piqua) to DAY (Dayton International) and back to ISZ. Wind at 3k was 230 at 15 so going up was great, coming back I think granny's drivng southbound on 75 were making better time than us! :)Great trip tho, few bumps here and there (always seem to pass over AK Steel coming south of Middletown) but for the most part smooth as silk, was kewl watching the t-storms up north of Piqua (kept Dayton radio REAL close for updates).Getting my third hour of night flying requirement in Friday night, then getting ready for the BIG X-country, heading to Muncie then Indy and back for that one, hear tell there is an excellent $100 hamburger joint at Muncie, Vinces I think is the name of it.found this interesting site a while back www.100dollarhamburger.com, Vinces is rated 4 burgers!!c ya :-waveBart flyhelp@zoomtown.comhttp://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/pics/ryans...ight/flight.gif http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/bart_logo3.jpg

Thanks for the recommendation, Bart. I'm actually trying to research study materials right now. My instructor wants me to use the Gleim books. Did you use the Sporty's DVDs? Any books/reading material you'd recommend? Also, does anyone have any opinions about the Gleim materials?Congratulations, Bart. I'm now following in your footsteps. With your recent score on the exam, I certainly hope I am!

The Gleim books are ok, pretty much on the techy side tho. The book I used, and still am is one written by Rod Machado "The Private Pilots Handbook", you can get it at Amazon.com or from his site www.rodmachado.com he also recently released a study guide to go along with the book, the book runs about $30.00 US, not sure on the study guide, didn't get it. It's the one my instructor told me about and it's a very well written book, doesn't just bombard you with the technical stuff, it's written more on a personal level which makes for a lot nicer read. He also has a lot of interesting link to sites on his page.Definetly use the Study Buddy and the Practice test on Sporty's tho, overall I think that helped me more than anything. Big thing is don't just memorize the answers, dig in and find out WHY that is the answer to the question. Also if you haven't already go to www.aopa.org and sign up for the free 6 month membership for students, it gives you all the access of a regular memeber and they have a lot of information to help you out, along with a monthly Flight Training magazine they send you, lots of articles written by pilots, CFI's etc.Another good book you can get at Amazon is called Stick and Rudder, it was written back in the 30's and 40's but gives you a good insight as to what makes a plane fly and why it does what it does in certain conditions.Hope this helps ya out and good luck on the training :) Drop me a note and let me know how you're doing !!Where are you flying out of? c ya :-waveBart flyhelp@zoomtown.comhttp://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/pics/ryans...ight/flight.gif http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/bart_logo3.jpg
