Help installing scenery

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi Everybody,I have been using FLY2 for a few weeks now and been reading the Forum for some time and it has helped me with installing patches and setting up Fly2 to get the best out of it.I have been able to install FSbuild and Metar and got it running. But I have had no luck in installing any scenery, whenever I install any, Fly2 drops out back to WinXp with error CD3DMODEL, SMODEL.CPP LINE:3701 or something,I have downloaded and installed Biber's Fly2 AllModels Pack and Terramodel texture pack ver 2.1What else do I need to do?My ComputerAMD Thunderbird 1.3512 meg DDRGeforce3 Ti200 128 DDR ramWinXPRegards Mick:-newbie

G'day Mick,Yep you are missing some models that scenery requires. Go and read CAREFULLY the txt file accompanying all scenery that you have installed.A very common group of models used by scenery makers are those of David Arrowsmith. ( aka. Aussie Dave )Do you have the models of " nyc_v1da " installed?Try installing them and see if that helps, but do check the readme files by the scenery makers.Hope this helps.Cheers,Roger @YSSY

G'day Mick,I only have a 56K dial up myself but by usiing a resumeable download program like "getright" or "gozilla" I have downloaded some quite large scenery files with no problems.I think that the "socal" scenery is possibly one of the best scenery files available in the library and I strongly recommend it to you.Cheers,Roger @YSSY

G'Day Roger, Thanks again I downloaded the "nyc_v1da " file and it worked great so I must be getting somewere.I forgot to mention I did download Terramodels v2.2 and was able to make scenery for Rottnest Island near my home in Perth WA and that worked ok too.I will get the Socal file to try it out.Cheers' Mick>G'day Mick, >>I only have a 56K dial up myself but by usiing a resumeable >download program like "getright" or "gozilla" I have >downloaded some quite large scenery files with no problems. >>I think that the "socal" scenery is possibly one of the best >scenery files available in the library and I strongly >recommend it to you. >>Cheers, >>Roger @YSSY
