Turboprop sounds in FS2002

Recommended Posts

Guest Hanse_1

Hello!I am trying to figure out why 2 different planes using the sameturboprop sound come out with very different sounds..How do you fix that? What I want is of course the 2 planes to sound the same.Is it some configuration file, air-file, or where do youmanipulate it?Grateful for any help. Thanks in advance...Hans HermanssonSweden

It's their sound files of course. Every plane, engine, prop has it's own unique sound..identifiable by people familiar with it. Only a sounds sample from each one would truly give you "exact".

If you are using the same identical sound files by alias the sound to each aircraft, the only thing I could think would be that one aircraft could be longer than the other, wider than the other, the engines mounted futher back from the cockpit.Where do you notice the biggest difference?

Maybe the engines and propellers are running at different rpm's between the aircraft.

I tried this yesterday with two ATR's using the same sound files. I believe you are correct about the engine RPM settings for each aircraft. The differences between the two aircraft are their *.air and aircraft.cfg files.

As far as I know, it is the propeller rpm, the ratio Nh /NP and the engine positions which will primarily inlfuence. There is also an enrty (I don't remember which one) in the air file which produces a curious effect when changing it: while the prop rpm actually increase, the frequency of its sound is reduced.Paco
