I don't know what steps your taking now, but obviously you've already extracted the existing Flyhawk panel and converted the PBM to a file you could edit. Then you need to save out your work into a file you can convert back to a PBM. I use an indexed TIF file where the first entry in the color table is 0,0,0. That makes the top part of the panel transparent so you can see the outside. Then use Fly! Graphics to convert the tif to a PBM like FlyhawkPnl_Lindy.PBM. You'll then have to make a copy of the Flyhawk Panel file (FLYHWK00.PNL) and rename it to something like FLYHWK00_Lindy.PNL. In this file, make sure that the PBM it refers to is FlyhawkPnl_Lindy.PBM. Make sure that the PBM and PNL file are in your pod, and it should pick up your new panel. I don't know if this is what you're doing already, but hopefully it helps a bit.

Dannol Hi, Ive been following along the threads concerning repaints. I just found out today that the tutorial that was up on FSTerminal is no longer available. Also due to copy rights it can't be uploaded to Avsim. I'm trying to grasp this repainting. I have all the graphic tools to work with. Problem being this. When I get done unpodding the aircraft folder of choice. I can view the files using Fly Graphics program with no problem. But all I'm finding seems to be panel images. I cant locate any of the exterior parts. When I did find one exterior view of a wing. It looked all distorted in color. I guess I need someone to break down for me what all of the different file extensions define.I'm familiar with jpeg, gif, bmp and tif extensions. Now if if someone would explain to me what pbm, pbg, raw, act, acm, aai, and pnl define. I do know that pbm, pbg, and raw are terminal reality acceptable files. Also that pnl files are the actual panel graphic that Fly2 recognizes. In order to view the pnl file it has to be converted to a pbm file then to a jpeg in to be worked with using a graphic painting program. Right? Please excuse any typos.Am I on the right track or not? Anyone else out there that wants to share input will be appreciated. Tony--It's been a long time since I have tried making anything in Fly!2, but, as I recall, the PNL file is a text file that defines the layout of all the gauges. You should be able to read and edit it with Notepad.PBM files are large graphic images used for the panel background and cockpit views and PBG are the sequences of images that are animated for the gauges and needles, etc. They all can be converted to BMP for editing.RAW and ACT pairs are used for textures and as intermediate files when converting from PBM and PBG to BMP. For example you will convert PBM to a RAW/ACT pair and then RAW to BMP.You only need to create AAI files for panels with transparent areas, to optimize them. I think there is a special conversion utility that you run on a RAW/ACT file to create this - It's called AARAW or something like that. The .480, .600 and .768 files are Panel definition files for individual screen resolutions.

William, Thanks for the info. I think its coming clearer now. I just got my hands on a step by step tutorial as well. If I have any problems I will come back and post here. Although I will start another post with another title. But right now I'm going to try and get tickets online for the Philladelphia Eagles & Tampa Bay game this sunday. Wish me luck! :) just 3000 going up for sale online only.TonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8.1nVidia drivers 41.09ECS K7S5A SOCKETA /DDR/ATX MB, DDR SRAM 128MB PC-2100 266MHZ MEMORY ,AMD ATHLON T-BIRD 1.2GHZ 256K FSB266 PGA , NVIDIA GEFORCE2 MX-400 64MB AGP

Hi Johnny.nice work. I am also a Fly 2 user. Can you tell me how to convert the scenery and whether it was difficult? Also what FS 2002 files you used. Thanks very much.Richard

Sorry, I left out the most important part. If you're repainting an aircraft, you'll want to work with the TIF files. For example, for the Flyhawk it's Flyhawk.tif. Note that there is also a separate TIF file for the low and medium resolution models, when the aircraft is viewed at a distance.See you on tv at the play-off game...

SaltyDog--I downloaded these sceneries for conversion with FS Import, but I haven't had a chance to check them all out for issues. Most of the SimFlyer's sceneries seem to convert OK, and even the demos are nicer than our default scenery. I have an RTF version that is easier to add items to, if you would prefer that.--------------------- clip here ---------------------------- World Scenery 'Usable' Sceneries posted to Avsim Terminal Reality Fly! Hi Johnny.Just a quick question. What happens to the airports I already have a scenery for (like Bergen, Oslo and Kristiansand) when I run the FSImport? Does it overwrite my "old" sceneries?Because I guess the "NA8"-file also contains these airports.Roy B. :-waveOslo, Norway
