Thanks ROTW! ...P-51 bliss

Wow...this baby is fun to fly. I'm posting some pics of my latest P-51 flight into Aspen. I got out the manual and really followed through everything closely. This baby kept me on my toes as I monitored engine performance, temperature, etc. The landing was hair raising...perhaps because I came in so fast. But, I did land it on the runway with only a bounce or two -- what a thrill. Thanks ROTW! This is really a work of art.http://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...ScreenshotA.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...ScreenshotB.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...ScreenshotC.jpgThe livery is one I'm still working on and hope to release soon. The P-51 is fun to paint as well as Fly!

Dan:What ground textures are you using? Did you create those with TerraScene, or are you using sat imagery? Share - please!!!-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v41.09, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

These are part of a satellite scenery package I hope to release in the next couple of weeks. It uses a technique I've developed using Terrascene generated tiles and Photoshop to color black and white satellite photos that I download with USAPhotoMaps. Right now it takes a while to do, but I'm experimenting with ways to cut the time down. If I can find a way to do that, I hope to create satellite scenery areas all over the U.S. I may upload the whole 1/4 tile POD because so far its only 86 MB. Otherwise, I'm going to upload a scenery kit that will allow others to use my textures and Terrascene to build it themselves. Either way, I will definitely share. Its a really beautiful scenery package that allows you to fly in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado around Aspen (KASE) and Leadville (KLXV). I hope to extend it over to Glenwood Springs and Granby. These are excellent, challenging mountain flying airports and Terramodels versions are already available at AVSIM (thanks Wayne)! For anyone curious, here are a few images of the process:1) Start with B&W satellite photohttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...mparison_BW.jpg2) Create a Terrascene tile for the same exact regionhttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...son_TerraSc.jpg3) Use the Terrascene tile and Photoshop blending modes to create the finished producthttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...rison_Color.jpg
