What happened to...

The planes that shipped with Fly! when they produced Fly!2? I was looking thru a manual I printed out from Fly! (before returning the software to EB...my pc wouldn't run it back then :( ), and noticed that it included recognisable planes like the Cessna 172 and the Piper Malibu Mirage. However, now that I've got a decent PC and Fly!2 I notice that the planes are fictitious (albeit close 'cousins' of the above mentioned aircraft). Is this something to do with copyright and royalty payments??? How come old M$ get's away with it?Just inquisitive you know :)Duke

Yes, apparently they never got permission from Raytheon, Cessna or Piper's legal departments to use their logos and real aircraft names in this product. This is understandable in case of Cessna which signed exlusive agreement with Microsoft but why Raytheon or Piper ? Piper apparently asked for some $$$ that TRI considered out-of-line.Michael J.

I'd have thought they might still be a wee bit upset at the 'Flyhawk', which is hardly much of a disguise :) So apart from that really obvious one what do the other planes in Fly!2 correlate to in the real world?Duke

>>Fly!2 correlate to in the real world? >That should be obvious if you used the original FLY! (or FLY!2k) - where names were real.Michael J.

All the planes in the original Fly! are in Fly!2 - just with fake names. -DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v41.09, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
