Rocky Mount, NC TerraScene Pack (pic+)

Recommended Posts

The last global tile render pack for the northern part of North Carolina will be uploaded shortly. With Rocky Mount joining Raleigh in the west and the Edenton tile to the east, you can fly TerraScenery from Knoxville, TN to Ktty Hawk, NC.Over beautiful John H. Kerr Reservoir - it runs from Virginia in the northwest down into North Carolina near Henderson. From it, the Roanoke River runs down into Roanoke Rapids Lake.

Well, compared to the United Kingdom, it is. :-)Including shapefile updates with each tile adds about 3 hours of work, or basically, a day to the project - 2-3 hours a day is the best I can do with my current work and family schedule. So, it takes a day to download and assign attributes to the shapefile additions. Then, the first images are rendered overnight. On the second day, I edit the errors (if any) in the day and water image mini-tiles. Edited tiles are rerendered and the scenery sliced overnight. On the third day, the global tile is tested and packaged for upload. So, not too bad - about 3 evenings for a basic tile. Difficult areas that require a lot of editing (mountainous regions, for the most part) may take 4-5 days because of the image editing.
