Hi KathyPilot,Glad you defined the RTFM, especially with your fine son interested in aviation!!!I just got my 15yr old son interested in Flight Simulator. He is smoother than me with 40yrs experience testing and evaluating aircraft systems and flight simulators.Yesterday, he comes to me and says, "Dad! You and I ought to see about getting pilot's licenses. Yahoo!

Interesting read, Kathy. It is just too bad that from my perspective, it appears to be mostly a case of quick fix attitudes and laziness that cause most to not read the manual. Maybe I'm just weird, but I always read manuals expecially for software and electronics. I agree with the article that more questions are answered by the manual than not.

Flight Simulation has been the biggest "RTFM" situation for me ever. Learning all the FMC's and panel operations for today's sims/airplanes have driven me back to the fine art of manual reading.I remember the good ol' days when you could pick up a game and just USE it. :) If I am confident that I am not going to break it, I'll play before I read. Otherwise, its a manual fest!-Greg
