Computer Pilot Magazine - I need your help

Recommended Posts

Guest Eagle

I received the following message from the Editor of Computer Pilot Magazine this evening. It is an opportunity for Fly to receive recognition. The magazine is going to include a CD with each issue featuring addons for flight simulators and they are requesting submissions. What I need from the FLY community are suggestions of scenery to be included on the CD.They are also requesting some of the Flight Adventure files. Your suggestions on those would be of great help.We want to make this to be GOOD to show others what can be done with the FLY simulator."We would like to incvlude about half a dozen of your Fly! II sceneries. if there are any in particular you think would be best, let me know ASAP!" Cheers and thanks for your support and assistance. Regards, Dean Bielanowski, RN. BNurs. Thanks Larry. If Matt will give me permission I will certainly include his scenery. Submission time is very limited.

Wayne,I would be happy to provide complete global tiles of my TerraScenery, but because of their size, only two could be placed on a CD (compressed)!By comparison, your airports are quite small, and would be easy to fit on a disk along with other items.

I have found it, Larry. It is for limited distribution and not 100% freeware. Without his approval I will not submit it.

This is an interesting development for Computer Pilot. You may recall I e-mailed Dean quite a while ago suggesting that there be more articles in the magazine relating to FlyII. That request was essentially rejected. The best way IMHO for Fly to get wider recognition is for more articles to be published about FlyII and the possibilities that exist with it.One useful series would be about Terrascene and Terrashape and how to do it, from the simple to the complex. Other series could cover panel design and so on.I don't really think that having a few addons on a CD with the magazine is likely to result in much greater interest in FlyII or even increase the magazine sales. Afterall we can already download a huge number of freeware files kindly uploaded by the keen and able FlyII experts. What do you guys and gals think?:-hmmm

Flyfisher, you have to start somewhere. If we ignore this request, how long do you think it will be before they show interest once again in FLY?

Include the Swiss Airports -- there are about 5 or 6 (including Zurich) and they are really nice. What makes them great to include, though, is that no custom TerraScenery is requred for beautiful VFR flight. This is one of the nicest "default scenery" VFR flying areas I've flown.-DK----David KohlFly! Thankyou Wayne in helping keeping Fly!2 ALIVE. I agree, the more free exposure we have the better. I often wonder how many people out there have Fly but dont even know about this forum for example. I was using Fly2 for over a year before I stumbled across the avsim fly forum. It "did my head in" (english frase!) not having much scenery. Anyway please let us know the outcome .... Regards Steve.

Thanks David for your suggestion. The submission has been made to Computer Pilot and I am now waiting for a response from the Editor. I may not know what they have selected until the magazine comes out.I will keep every one informed and will continue to work with the magazine editor to include more on Fly.

Wayne,I wasn't suggesting that there should be no response but was asking whether people agreed with my preference for more articles in the magazine about FlyII and it's supporting software eg Terrascene and Terrashape.I have been a subscriber for 3 years but am disappointed that the articles covering Fly have essentially dried up when there is a lot that could be included.People who read the magazine and see some of the things that can and have been done with FlyII might be tempted reinstall it or even to buy it.Having a few files on a CD is less likely to do this.
