How do I remove a default model?

Recommended Posts

Guest Steve Brown

Hi guys :-wave Could someone inform me how I removed default models from Fly2.For example, Big Ben and the houses of Parliament, oh and the Palace.I have resized Big Ben to its correct hight of 316 ft and placed it were it should be. Tomorrow Im doing the parliament buildings and the Palace. But sadly the old models are still there. I thought it might be in the Cities pod, but I cant find the reference to them, only Heathrow :-fume Thankyou Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace

You must open the pod in ...flyII/scenery/shared (Generic, cities, trucks). After deleting repod.Go in Data folder and delete your model from the list in "factory" file. That's allGi

Thanks Gio` I understand were Im going wrong now. I will delete the default references to these as you say, extracting the .smf and .tif files and renaming them for my own selfish needs :-lol Its nice flying down the River Thames seeing Big Benny in the right place :-) If I finish this soon I will upload the finished London City. Thanks again Steve. http://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace

Hi SteveShould go well with the new Saab. I've been waiting for a nice new turbo-prop twin to fly out of EGLC and then along comes your London scenery as well. Just a pity that we never got the 5.5 degree glideslope working, but then I get to practice my LOC/DME approaches instead.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Hi Andrew :-wave Still having problems here!I have done what Giorgio said above, but Fly keeps crashing looking for the London models, even though I have removed them, and all the references to them???For now to keep on working I reduced the default models to 0.1 in size and they are so small even a mouse cant fit in :-lol Now I have renamed the models and will give them there right sizes and positions. If anyone knows the real fix for this please post here, I spent hours trying to figure it out and wifey is CROSS with Stevie.Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace

SteveI'd say you haven't removed all references to them if Fly! crashes once you've deleted the models from the POD.It is possible to remove references to these default models because the SF scenery was modified by Vin when he replaced the Golden Gate bridge with a new model. My guess is you need a new .s11 file for the tile that you're working with.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Including a search for all the London Models... no luck ooooh sorry no pun intended :-) Thankyou for your help ;-) Steve.Files I remnoved were all the files in the fly 2 scenery shared folder/generic pod. SteveLooking forward to seeing the finished results.Got to take your hat off to Rich and the team for the original sim design. It was built to be open. Everything that could be defined in a plain text file was. Of course, you still have to find that text file :-lolAndrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH
