Hi Steve.Interesting idea.I thought of it myselfe once, but just the Stavanger airfield. At the local aircraft museum there is a huge model made by the Germans during the war. It's several square meters wide, and shows the entire airfield, with all the terrain, roads, buildings and houses in the area. Also the connecting satelite airfield at Forus. So all details are preserved for us who live here today. But I guess I stick to helo development for now :)So long.Janhttp://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannerjh.jpg

Hi Jan!From my Cottage up in the Hills I can see the Area were the Airfield was at Wrexham. Its a quarry now but some of the runway is still there and even a few of the old buildings. Last summer they had an open day and we went to visit. Hardly any pictures exist of the Airfield but by chance I stumbled across an Aerial picture in a book of Borras head Airfield. It showed the sites were all those training to fly had crashed :-lol Anyway this is how it is today!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/72269.jpg Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace

Hi Steve,If you can send me the proper coordinates, magnetic and true headings of the "runway", or the very least the Latitude and Longitude to see if I can find a terraserver image to get that from, I can give this a try for you. Would also need to know - was the runway grass, dirt, concrete, type of taxiway, etc. A scan of the base layout available?? Right-oh... ;-)Will look forward to receiving the items from you. Give me something else to try my hand at.Side note - Any 3D modelers out there willing to "build" a really nice 35 foot to 40 foot cabin cruiser boat / and/or a nice 15 foot to 20 foot motorboat and/or a nice 20 foot sailboat (sails and no sails) for the sim's scenery building options? We could use a few nice looking cabins and a floatplane building for beach use with a pier along side also... :-)Cheers!Ken Wood :-sun1http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannernewkw.jpgGateway 700X; Intel P4 2.4GHz; 512MB RAM; NVIDIA Ti4200 4X AGP 128MB; SB Audigy; Thrustmaster TopGun Fox 2 Pro Shock

Hi Steve, I will work on converting the endpoints for the runways today / tonight and work on it more Tuesday as I have a day off. Should find something in your email by Tuesday evening / early Wednesday morning... :-) More than happy to help... need to learn more about the databases as it is, so this is a good project to work from!Cheers, my friend... :-beerchugKen Wood :-sun1http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannernewkw.jpgGateway 700X; Intel P4 2.4GHz; 512MB RAM; NVIDIA Ti4200 4X AGP 128MB; SB Audigy; Thrustmaster TopGun Fox 2 Pro Shock

Many many thanks for the files Ken :-) I did my first landing their after you sent them.McAlpine staff are very interested in what we are doing here. They own the site now!!!Well, the history is, McApines were first commissioned to build the Airfield. When it was closed, McAlpines bought the land to quarry there. They built it, then destroyed it. They have still got one of the large Bellman Hangars there and a few other little buildings too.Im sure this project may get some interest around here in Wrexham :-) Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace

Very cool! Hoping one of us can fix the elevation problem with the runways. We mainly need to flatten the area via the scenery slicer, *if* we can find some shapefiles to work with to create some scenery of the area. I'm looking around to see what I can find for that region.Cheers!Ken Wood :-sun1http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannernewkw.jpgGateway 700X; Intel P4 2.4GHz; 512MB RAM; NVIDIA Ti4200 4X AGP 128MB; SB Audigy; Thrustmaster TopGun Fox 2 Pro Shock

Ken / SteveIf you get the runway elevations in the database before you render the scenery then the slicer *should* take care of the flattening for you.At least, that's the way it's supposed to work :-)Colin
