Hi all-An update to my Bergen Flesland ENBR scenery can now be found in the Library:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=56359The pod had a double-up of Biber`s models and are cleaned up. I have also given a new, see-through roof texture to the terminal, new numbering to the gates, a new tower texture, and added a new GA hangar.Plus I have heavily reduced vertices on my 3D models :+ Enjoy!http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/josve/andrew/bergen2.jpg

Thanks, folks :-) Well, I might do another update to the ENBR scenery, found one more flaw. Won`t tell you what it is, it`ll better be a well-guarded secret until one of you discover it!Mats, I`m planning a FS9 scenery, including Torsby, Sunne and maybe Karlstad airport. Or first just one airport, then more to come, plus Ground2k4 scenery. But since gmax is my main tool these days I don`t know if its easy or not to import them into 3DSmax. Hope one day it will be possible to export the Fly II format directly from gmax...FS9 is my main sim now, since it has a much better scenery, and since I am a betatester for PMDG...so I don`t feel like doubling up my 3D workload :-halo

Hi Steve, Spaceman!Checked out your site, nice it is :) Just dreamt myself into space too, by reading Arthur. C. Clarke`s "3001"...a terrific book. Now, down to dirty Earth.I`m talking Photoshop here, don`t know how it`s done in PsP.I use tga`s for Fly II textures. In order to get a transparent, you need your tga to be 32 bit instead of 24 bit. Using 32 bit, you can add an Alpha channel in the "Layers" window. Click the "Channels" tab, then by pushing the "Add channel" button you`ll get an "Alpha1".Your original pic is the foreground layer, the Alpha channel is the background. Push the "Alpha1" button, and use the Fill function to fill the background with a medium gray. By varying the gray, you will get the level of see-through you want.Foreground (the colour of the glass itself): Here I usually use a dark blue or black. Experiment with the levels here too -in order to get the colour level you want for your glass. When your texture is finished...there is one, last important point: When exporting your model from Max, DON`T export it as 24-bit. Take the 24-bit check away, then export. That way you keep your texture 32 bit. If not you will loose your Alpha.Lastly, if I remember right, you will need to set the path up manually pointing to your 32 bit tga when converting the model to a smf in the Fly II editor. Haven`t done it for a year, so please bear over with my lack of exercise!

Many thanks Andrew :-) Just a couple of questions..1. Do I fill the Alpha channel grey?2. For the foreground glass, do I make another layer, or do I paint dark blue or black over the picture where I want the glass? Then is it moving the transparency level up and down to get the effect.Sorry this part is new to me :-) And thanks for the very fast replyStevePS.Glad you like the site, Im updating it when I come back from Florida. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ http://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg

Well, it`s Friday here, so I`m stiil up ;-) 1: Yes. Use a light gray. If I remember right, pure black gives no transparency, and pure white gives transparency. The values is 0 to 255.2: The foreground is your original texture, before you add the Alpha. So you start for example, with a pure middle blue 32 bit texure. Then open it in Photoshop, bring up the Layers window, then add the Alpha.(Really, all pics are foreground/background, software or not. It`s like a photo paper before you put it into the printer. All white...until the printer adds the foreground...which is your photo. Think of it this way: Now, if you put a transparent into your printer...you will get a see-through)Makes sense? It was exactly this, watching my printer, that shone the light to me :+ BTW thanks to Biber Salsa...he was my mentor with this stuff.

Yes, thanks to the great Biber Salsa, I wish I had half of his talents. But thanks to you too Andrew as I did it, I made glass windows to see through :-) Because of this I now have a better understanding of how the alpha channel works. Also at the same time I was able to attach all the parts of my model, which I couldnt before. Its so easy Im kicking myself. :-lol Now I have to go and play around your airport as I havent yet... sorry, Steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ http://www.wrexhamspace.org/Steves%20Card.jpg

Glad to hear you made it, Steve ;-) I forgot to mention, if you want windows with bars, then use the rectangular marquee tool and mark the bars on the foreground. Then use the channels window and switch to the background (alpha). Your markings from the foreground will still be there. Fill with pure white, which will give no transparency. Done! :-wave
